Screen Printing

Screen printing is the most common and preferred choice to decorate apparel. One of its primary benefits is the ability to achieve vibrant colors, durability, and excellent opacity, making it particularly effective for bold, solid designs, even on dark fabrics.

The greatest advantage is the cost-effectiveness for large print runs; As the setup costs can be amortized over many prints, the cost per item decreases significantly with higher quantities. At Teeland, we will partner with you every step of the way ensuring you are taking advantage of the many media options we have to offer. Here are a few more!

Direct to Garment

Direct-to-garment printing (DTG) is a process of printing on textiles using specialized aqueous (water-based chemistry) ink jet technology. DTG printers typically have a platen designed to hold the garment in a fixed position, and the printer inks are jetted or sprayed onto the textile by the print head.

Prior to printing, the DTG press typically requires that the garment be pre-treated with a PTM or pre-treatment machine, for the following 3 reasons: allow for a stronger bond between garment fibers and the pigmented inks, press down napped loose fibers to provide a smoother substrate, and provides a better chemical reaction with the inks to promote drying and curing.

Since this is a digital process, the print is sharper and has a higher resolution, or dpi, than traditional screen printing, however, unlike screen printing, there is no long setup or clean-up process, and DTG has the ability to print just one single shirt in seconds, for minimal cost.

Direct to Film

Direct to film, commonly known as DTF, is a process in which a graphic is printed onto a piece of film or transfer paper using various colored digital inks and then applied to apparel. This pre-printed film is binded to the garment through heat and pressure from a heat-press machine. This creates a long-lasting and detailed graphic that can be placed on almost any garment type.

The digital inks used for this process are specialized for garment application and use the typical CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow & black). white ink also plays a significant role in the creation of the DTF film as it is the foundation that allows the colored pigments to better perform.

Once the design is printed onto the film, it is ready to be applied to a garment. a heat press machine, along with the proper settings, is used to adhere these films to the garment. Each garment type will require a different variation of temperature, time, and pressure to ensure the DTF film is properly applied. After pressed onto the item, the clear backing is peeled off of the film to complete the process!

Heat Application

Heat Application printing starts with determining the type of transfer (medium) you want to apply. Transfers come in all types of mediums including embroidered emblems and patches including vinyl, twill, leather, and rubber. Just about any raw material that is compatible to heat, can be made into a transfer.

To apply requires using a heat press to bond the transfer onto your garment. The heat transfer process allows for garments to get a good quality look with low pricing and minimums.

Embroidery

Embroidery is the art of decorating apparel using a combination of a needle and bobbin to apply thread onto fabric. In modern applications, especially on t-shirts and polos, embroidery starts with a design that is digitized into a format readable by an embroidery machine.

The design is then stitched directly onto the garment using various stitch techniques such as satin stitches and column stitches meticulously following the pattern. The number of stitches required is determined during the digitization process, based on size of art, with higher stitch counts often resulting in greater cost. Embroidery will enhance value to any garment with this personalized touch.
